  •    I want to tell you about the best English lesson in our school. But firstly, I would like to say how is English  important in our world. Learning a foreign language is not an easy thing. It is a long and slow process that takes a lot of time and efforts. Nowadays it is especially important to know foreign languages. Some people learn languages because they need them for their work, others travel abroad, for the third, studying languages is a hobby. Everyone, who knows foreign languages, can speak with people from other countries, read foreign writers in the original   and it makes your outlook wider.

I have been studying English since the first form. I have a great teacher Elena Ivanovna  and she has given me a lot of knowleges and skills. We have English lessons five times a week. Our lessons are very interesting. Each lesson gives us more and more experience in English speaking. Once a week we have a “Home reading” lesson. At these lessons we discuss texts, say our opinion, ask and answer the questions and improve  our vocabulary. But once I have had the best English lesson ever. The theme of that lesson was “Round the clock|”. Teacher wrote the theme on the blackboard and we started the lesson. Elena Ivanovna showed us  colorful cards with  new words and after that we wrote them into our vocabularies. She hanged the scheme,  such as:

We worked with new words, and  talked about our daily routines. The first exercise was about activities and how often we do them (rarely, often, sometimes, usually, always, every day/morning/afternoon, once/twice a week, at weekends. For example:I always get up early on weekdays. I catch the bus to school  every morning. I meet my friends once a week.) After that we said four things that we normally do and compared our answers with partner’s. Then Elena Ivanovna turned on a computer and we watched different presentations about daily routines. Those presentations were done by my classmates, they were very interesting and we knew a lot of new word combinations. Later we listened and repeated the dialogue. We worked in pairs and told each other how we spend our free time. After that we started to work with grammar and remembered how to use “Present Simple and Present Continuous”. Than we matched the words from column A with those in column B:

                   A                              B

    1.      Make                     a. the beds

    2.      Meet                      b. the furniture

    3.      Take out                c. in the gum

    4.      Mow                      d. my friends

    5.      Dust                       e. the clothes

    6.      Do                          f. the rubbish

    7.      Iron                        g. the lawn

    8.      Work out                h. the washing up

Our home work was  to find pictures of our family doing some activities and write a short description to each of them. Finally the best lesson that I have ever had was over.

And at the end I would like to say a good quotation: “How many languages you know so many times you are a man”. I think it is really so. I think that English will help me a lot in the future. I wish everyone the best lessons !!!

P.S. I add my presentation about “my working day” to my composition.
